On Saturday June 26th, 2010 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., the National Museum of the U.S. Navy at the Washington Navy Yard will be hosting “Girls Make History Day” featuring the very popular American Girl (AG) dolls and books, and two AG authors Valerie Tripp and Jackie Greene. This event is geared towards girls aged 5-13, and designed to raise interest in history and heritage and science. Download the PDF brochure from the museum.
The 2010 Girl Make History day will feature 11 activity stations, all linking the lives to the fictional American Girl characters to maritime history, practical science and technology applications. Last year we had 900 little girls and 600 parents, including TV coverage from Fox 5 News. This year, we’re expecting more than 1,500 people for the event and coverage from a few other television networks.
