Looks like the Chesapeake Room is a hit with the neighbors! On opening weekend Capitol Hill devoured their entire pantry forcing them into emergency-restock mode. This story is not an urban legend- it was posted on their front door!
The Chesapeake Room is about more than spectacular cuisine. This elegant but casual eatery with a name that suggests the best of local farms and bay seafood also has a wonderful outdoor eating space – far more like a dining room than a patio.
Owner Xavier Cervera promises year round service outside on the patio through the magic of specialized heaters in the awning.
The guy doing the cooking? Chef Robert Wood. He’s new to DC; a ringer from Savannah, discovered last year by Cervera.
Chef Wood joins Bart Vandaele of Belga Café; Dimitri Moshovitis of Cava Mezze; and Dot Steck of Zest, an American Bistro at our Barracks Row’s Garden Party Fundraiser on June 15. All chefs are bringing their best creations for guests to try.
